For over 40 years, Swimathon has been the UKs biggest fundraising swim with over 10,000 swimmers taking part in over 500 pools across the UK, raising £55m for charity.
I’ve worked with the team behind Swimathon since 2019 on their sister event, Marathon Swims, so I’m very much in the mass participation sporting event world!
I’m retained by the Foundation as Swimathon’s Social Media Manager. That means I work on the project all year, with peaks around the event weekend. I am responsible for designing and delivering the social media strategy across 4 platforms. That’s not just creating content that reflects our audience (and the people we want to attract), it’s nurturing partnerships, finding and managing digital champions, working with celebrities and influencers, analysing what’s working and what isn’t, and the list goes on! All of this work boils down to getting meaningful engagement, sign-ups, and that all-important fundraising.
I work with a small team of freelancers who deliver the event, and my favourite part is meeting participants and sharing their inspiring stories.
